LB680

Appropriate funds to carry out the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Description:

Introduced to provide a focal point for a public hearing on federal funds coming to Nebraska under the American Recovery and Reconstruction Act of 2009, or ARRA.  Additionally, the bill is seen as helping the State meet the demands for accountability and transparency.  LB680, as introduced, consists of the basic “boilerplate” structure necessary to enact appropriations.  The specific programs and funding are yet to be determined as the Appropriations Committee progresses through post-hearing budget deliberations.  Most ARRA funding is dependent upon issuance of guidance by federal departments, specific application processes and certifications, some of which are not yet completed.  At the public hearing, the NE Children and Families Foundation asked that lawmakers consider the child care needs of working families.  The NE Health Care Association advised that the State would be well served by investing in long-term care projects.  CARRYOVER TO 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
