LB236
Appropriate funds to reduce the waiting list for developmental disabilties services.
| Description: |
Provide additional funds in order to provide services for individuals with developmental disabilities. The aid is to reduce, if not eliminate, the waiting list. According to the Statement of Intent, individuals on the waiting list were last offered services in 2006, in contrast to 1997 when Nebraska had only a handful of persons on the waiting list. As of July 1, 2008, there were 1,865 persons officially waiting for services in Nebraska. Of these, 1,628 were waiting for residential services. In total, there are 2,443 requests for services from these individuals. The schedule of appropriations would be: $16.3 million in fiscal year (FY) 2009-10; $32.5 million in FY2020-11; $48.8 million in FY2011-12 and $65.1 million in FY20120-13. The appropriations would be matched by federal funds and used for services to individuals with developmental disabilities who were on the waiting list and past their date of need as of Nov. 14, 2008.
