Reinstate sales tax on food and tax all services except medical

Description:

In part, would reinstate the sales tax on food except food purchased with food stamps.  An income tax credit would be allowed for qualified low-income residents.  The Dept. of Revenue would be directed to provide awareness programs to help inform the public of the food sales tax credit.  The bill also would place a tax on all services except medical and require community colleges and individual school districts to obtain their operating funds from general funds and not through property taxes.  The sponsor of the bill says it is an attempt to provide property tax relief.  CARRYOVER TO 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
