LB609

Relates to child-care contracts and the Dept. of Health and Human Services

Description:

Would require the the Dept. of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to enter into contracts with child care providers to provide child care to low-income families. The Federal Child Care and Development Fund permits states to offer low-income families a choice between receiving child care pursuant to a contracted slot or a voucher.  Currently, Nebraska only offers child care assistance through the voucher system.  LB609 would require DHHS to offer both.  CARRYOVER TO 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Indefinitely postponed April 14, 2010.
