Increase the state Earned Income Tax Credit

Description:

Would increase the state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) from 10% to 13% of the federal Earned Income Tax Credit.  The EITC is a refundable tax credit to offset the tax burden on low-income working families, such as sales and payroll taxes.  As drafted, the bill would result in many families losing another tax credit related to children or dependents, leading to opposition by groups which support an enhanced EITC.  CARRYOVER TO THE 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Indefinitely postponed April 14, 2010.
