Accreditation of the Division of Children and Family Services

Description:

Require the Division of Children and Family Services in the Department of Health and Human Services to become an accredited agency by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc., on or before December 1, 2010. The division is directed to develop a plan to achieve accreditation. The plan shall be submitted to the Governor, the Speaker and the chairpersons of the Revenue, Health and Human Services, Appropriations, and Judiciary Committees on or before December 1, 2009.  The Fiscal Analysis states that the plan can be developed with current department resources. The cost of accreditation is approximately $200,000. This cost would likely be incurred in FY 2011. It is not known if additional staff would be needed to obtain accreditation, or if so, the extent of additional resources that may be needed. This information will be compiled and reported in the plan due on December 1, 2010.  CARRYOVER TO THE 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
