Pathways Program
The Pathways Program presents a nationally recognized construction curriculum in a user-friendly classroom-laboratory environment. Most students will complete the program in 13 weeks. Students earn valuable certification through the Pre-Apprenticeship Certification Training (PACT) for each module completed successfully. PACT certification assures employers that students are qualified to handle basic construction work.
While acquiring basic energy-efficient construction methods, Pathways students will increase their reading and math skills. Pathways instructors are skilled professionals with construction experience who, along with highly qualified Basic Education teachers will give students a balanced learning experience.
The Pathways Program offers classes to help every participant move toward employability. Offerings include basic computer classes, basic education classes to improve reading and writing skills, and more. The Pathways Program takes students right where they are and helps them progress toward their goals.
Because of space limitations and grant eligibility requirements, not everyone who applies will be admitted. The program will accept new students approximately every 13 weeks. If qualified students do not get into the construction program immediately, they can complete other classes until space is available. Students who need further development in reading are able to work towards completing their GED while waiting to be admitted.
Eligibility requirements: You MUST (1) Live on the north side of O Street; (2) Be at least 18 years old and fall into one of the following categories: (a) currently unemployed, (b) high school dropout, (c) past criminal record, (d) low-income, (e) veteran or veteran’s spouse if otherwise qualified.
All applicants will be required to complete an assessment to determine reading and English level.
