Agency Partners

The Center for People in Need is fortunate to partner with the Lincoln Food Bank to provide the Neighborhood FOOD program. In 2009, this partnership delivered more than 1.9 million pounds of food and USDA commodities directly to five low-income areas of the city. The Center can purchase food from the Food Bank for .05 cents per pound with a value of approximately $1.67 per pound!  Staff from the Food Bank also deliver food to weekly sites and assist Center volunteers and staff during distributions.

The Nebraska Department of Vocational Rehabilitation leases 20,000 square feet of our building to accommodate their staffing and program needs.  This partnership provides unique benefits for clients from both agencies. Voc. Rehab has employment counselors onsite to work with Center clients and to provide additional support as participants in job skills training seek employment and enter the workforce.  The Center provides a job training site for their participants in addition to providing access to agency programs and services such as Neighborhood FOOD, the computer lab, and special holiday distributions.

Clinic With a Heart provides free, walk-in medical clinics at the Center every Tuesday evening. Services include medical, dental, and chiropractic care in addition to physical therapy and limited prescription assistance. For a schedule of clinics, click the News & Events link on this website or contact Clinic With a Heart at 402-421-2924.

Food Net has a weekly food distribution at the Center every Wednesday at 2:30 pm. Food Net provides a variety of food items including perishables like vegetables, fruit, and dairy products.
